Matthew Carpenter

Deputy Head of Licensing & Ventures - Life Sciences

Matt represents Oxford University Innovation, the technology transfer company for the university, on the Joint Patent Committee for the IMCM. He is Deputy Head of Licensing & Ventures (Life Sciences) at OUI where he leads a team of Licensing & Ventures Managers who assist researchers at the university to maximise the global impact of their research and expertise through technology licensing to existing companies and university spin outs. In 14 years at OUI he has provided technology transfer support for a wide variety of university projects, including the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 and the Oxford-Serum Institute vaccine for malaria. He has also helped to spin out several university spinout companies including Vaccitech (Barinthus Biotherapeutics), MiroBio (Gilead) and Nucleome Therapeutics. Matt has a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College, London and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of the West of England, Bristol.
