Post-doc (biomarkers)
I completed PhD in cell biology and biophysics at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. The focus of my doctoral study was on understanding the aggregation of α-synuclein and its familial mutants, both in vitro and in vivo. After PhD, I pursued postdoctoral studies at Linkoping University, Sweden, where I continued to work on protein aggregation. During postdoctoral studies, I majorly worked on cellular and biophysical characterization of Abeta42 and Tau amyloid polymorphism in in vitro (Aβ fibrils formed under various conditions) and in vivo samples (Mouse, Drosophila, and human sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD)).
Research Summary:
My current research aims to develop a real-time quaking-induced conversion (RT- QUIC) assay for disease-specific biomarkers namely TDP-43 and α-synuclein which are associated Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) respectively.
