Dr Gayle Garcia

Gayle has recently joined the Oxford ALS/MND research group and works in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. She is a qualified Australian Neurologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist with an interest in Motor Neuron Disease.

 Her interests are in therapeutic trials and neuroimaging. Her role in clinical trials involves recruitment, participant follow-up and trial support in several actively recruiting MND trials. She also has an interest in neuroimaging with aims to integrate MEG-MRI and biochemical data to identify biomarkers of early and pre-symptomatic disease, and biomarkers that may help identify different progression rates in individuals living with MND.

 Gayle completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences (With Honours) at the University of Melbourne, Australia. She has previously worked in the field of epilepsy research prior to entering medical school in the University of Melbourne, Australia, where she obtained a Doctor of Medicine. She has trained and worked in the Parkville Precinct, one of the largest research precincts in Australia.
