Robbie Allen

Biocurator / Research Assistant

I am currently working as a biocurator/research assistant in the Parkkinen lab based at the JR Hospital, working closely with the Oxford Brain Bank to manage, re-aliquot and organise patient samples from the OPTIMA cohort.

Prior to this position, I worked at the University of York as a research technician, researching the function of Two-Pore Channel 2 (TPC2) in the dopaminergic neurons of Drosophila melanogaster as a model for Parkinson’s Disease.

I completed a masters by research in York researching the effects of various chemotherapy drugs on the gating and functionality of Nav1.5 voltage-gated sodium channels and the effects of these changes on cell shape, behaviour and motility in triple-negative breast cancer cells.

I completed my undergraduate degree in York, including a year based at the Grenoble Institut des Neurosciences (GIN) in France, researching the link between gut inflammation and Alzheimer’s disease in mice.
